Ein Deutsches Requiem
Brahms |
Playing the tracks:
Double-click on the appropriate symbol below. On a reasonably up-to-date PC the
sound card is fitted as standard and appropriate software will start automatically.
RealAudio, Quicktime and Windows Media Player will both play these MIDI files, to give
some well-established examples. |
 |
Using stereo headphones is probably best. Each voice part is heard with a stronger
piano line, usually right of centre, with a sketch of the full orchestration underlying.
Then all you have to do is add the words! [There's a link to the German and
English words at the foot of this page.] |
You can listen to the rehearsal tracks directly from internet
(single-click the chosen note icon), or you may prefer to download to your PC those tracks
you want.
Downloading
here's a procedure you can follow:
* create a new folder "Brahms Requiem", perhaps within the system
folder "My Music"
* put the cursor over the appropriate symbol below and press the right mouse
button
* from the drop-down menu that appears choose "Save target as..."
* a box will appear from which you can locate your "Brahms Requiem"
folder and press Save
Playback
On two of the media players you can change the playback speed of downloaded MIDI tracks,
to take passages either a bit slower or a little faster.
Windows Media Player. From the top left menu bar
drop-down the View menu. Choose Enhancements, then Play Speed
Settings. Make sure the "Snap slider ..." box is unchecked.
Move the slider a little to the left, perhaps to 0.7. For the
right speed go back to the centre (1.0).
Quicktime. Work from the Playback window. From the
top menu bar drop-down the Window menu.
Choose Show A/V Controls. You will find Playback Speed
bottom right of the window.
Adjust the slider a little to the left for slower speed. For the right
speed move it back to the mark 1x. |
